I was reading an article on the Canoe site today about the problems PC owners are having with the barrage of viruses and worms that have been hitting them lately, and nodding my head in satisfaction at the author's observation that Mac users are much better off.
Then I read a sentence that made me choke: '"Then my computer had to leave and go to the hospital," said the 62-year-old grandmother, who works in the documentary film business.' "Sixty-two-year-old grandmother'? Is she had been a man, would she have been described as a grandfather first and a filmmaker after? I think not. It's disheartening that after all these years women are still described primarily in terms of their reproductive roles.
Then again, Canoe is run by Sun Media, noted for their rabidly conservative point of view.

I couldn't find a contact address so I just thought I'd reply here. I didn't see 'The Republic' newspaper on your list of links. It's an excellent little independent East Vancouver paper - it's also online: www.1rev.net
